Interview:

Is “FIN CHASER” your first script? If not, what else have you completed?

I've written four other scripts that are out there being considered by various production companies.

Why did you write "FIN CHASER? And how long did it take you to write it?

Over the years I've discovered that I love the process of writing.  

Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I'm happy to research and thrilled to finally get down to it and try to fill the page.  I try to write every day.  When I'm not writing on the computer I'm writing in my head.  Once I have the characters in my head, they don't leave it until I'm finished with the script.  So I write all the time.

What inspires you to write?

Anxiety drives me to write.  When I'm not writing I feel anxious and lonely.  When I'm in my head and worrying about my characters and what they are going to do...I'm happy.  So I'm driven to work, just to keep myself going. I don't believe that you have to suffer for your art, I believe that you simply have to work at it every day.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Apart from writing I'm passionate about everything. I'm the kind of person that will gush about anything.  I keep my eyes on politicians and use my computer to nudge Representatives to vote the way I think they should vote. I'm involved in the world, trying to keep from going to war and to make it more green.

Do you feel that screenwriting contests are worthwhile for writers and why?

I think for an unknown writer that screenwriting contests are a must and one of the only ways to get recognition in this shrinking world of film.  Maria Cozzi

Who is your favorite screenwriter or writer and why?

Robert Towne is my hero, but I pretty much respect all writer's and enjoy hearing and learning about their process. I've had a great teacher, in Quentin Peeples, who teaches at UCLA.  

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

What I'd say to other writer's is never give up.
