Comedy
Flesh and Stone

Interview:

Is “FLESH and STONE” your first script? If not, what else have you completed?

It was my first flat-out comedy. Prior to "Flesh and Stone," I'd written mostly high concept thrillers, one of which I optioned in 2007 and a few that placed in other notable competitions, including Writer's Digest.

Why did you write "FLESH and STONE? And how long did it take you to write it?

I wanted to add a comedy to my roster of scripts. Writing at night while working a day job, it took about 6 months.

Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I prefer to write at night or very early morning.

What inspires you to write?

The process of creating a great drama, comedy, or thriller, from original concept to final draft, is inspiring alone.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

New media, web series in particular.

What influenced you to enter the Movie Script Contest?

Sounded like a great competition that was well run, and it appears that assessment was correct.

Do you feel that screenwriting contests are worthwhile for writers and why?

There are many factors that lend to a screenwriter's credibility and success. Placing well in a notable competition is one of them.

Who is your favorite screenwriter or writer and why?

Melissa Rosenberg has written some amazing things on Dexter. Shawn Ryan, Joss Whedon, Ryan Murphy, Ronald Moore are a few others..

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Write about something that interests you that other people will have an interest in as well.

What’s next for you?

I am producing a drama web series over the coming year, along with name talent, that also has potential as a feature film. Gaining representation, taking on writing assignments and/or landing a spot as a staff writer are also at the top of my list.
